What is Yoni Steaming

The word Yoni, borrowed from the language of Sanskrit, means “sacred garden” and refers to the vagina, vulva, cervix, ovaries and uterus.

What is Yoni Steaming?

Yoni steaming (also known as vaginal steaming or pelvic steaming) is a gentle yet powerful practice where warm, often herb-infused steam is used to nourish, cleanse, and awaken the womb and pelvic organs.

This sacred self-care ritual can support menstrual health, vaginal and sexual health, balance hormones, and clear emotional imprints stored in the womb and vulva.

The warmth from the steam increases blood flow to the pelvic region, helping to bring oxygen and nutrients to the reproductive organs while encouraging the body’s natural detoxification processes.

Personally, my favorite benefits of steaming are how it helps release stagnant or old menstrual blood (which can contribute to cramps) and how it invites deeper connection to one’s femininity and sacred womb space.

Steaming can help with a variety of vulvar, vaginal, and uterine conditions. See below for more details.

A small wooden stool with a hexagonal pattern on top, placed next to a bowl of pink flowers floating on leaves, a rolled towel, a dish with a decorative object, a small square tile, and a crystal on a white surface near a window.
