The story your face has been holding 𓁹

Beneath the surface of your face lives the story of your nervous system and relational experiences… free video practice below 🐅

I often say your body is like a history book of your life, but if there’s one part that tells the most tender stories, it’s your face 👩🏽‍🦱

Every time you’ve held back an emotion, every time you masked what you’ve truly felt to keep the peace, every time you’ve adjusted your facial expression to appease or to stay connected.. your nervous system registered it. The muscles and fascia of your face took note 📝

Our facial expressions are deeply woven into how we bond, how we signal and register safety, and how we relate to both rupture and connection in relationship 💞 Your face carries the invisible choreography of how you've learned to belong, to protect, and to connect.

And Subscriber First Name, while adapting our expressions in social situations is something most of us do (sometimes out of necessity and sometimes out of habit), each time we wear a mask that doesn’t match our internal state, tension gets layered in. The muscles, skin, and fascia of the face hold this for us 🫧

This incongruence, though completely human, can leave your face feeling patterned, frozen, tight, or emotionally muted 😶

Subscriber First Name, your face LONGS to feel again. To soften. To be met. To rejoin the field of authentic expression and connection.

Not just in your nervous system, but in the muscles, fascia, and skin of your face too.

See below for an embodiment practice you can try today to begin remembering, unlearning, and softening the story held in your face.

Embodiment Practice:
Facial Unmasking 🦹‍♀️

Step 1: Cradling the Face
- Take a few moments to settle, seated or standing.
- Place the palms of your hands on your face, cupping your cheeks
- Notice your breath, and let your face simply receive the warmth or coolness of your hands. Receiving that contact.
- Can your skin and muscle soften into the contact of your own hands?

Step 2: Feeling the Echos
- After a minute or so, remove your hands from your face
- Can you sense the echo of where your hands just were?
- What’s alive in your face right now? What can be felt? Does anything feeling different?

Step 3: Contract-Relax
- Stand up
- Inhale to create fists with the hands, squeeze the shoulders up to the ears, and clench and tense the muscles of the face (this will look funny!) Hold the breath in, feel the tension build.
- Exhale to let it all go. Feel the tension release.
- Track the release of tension, stay with sensation
- Then repeat 2-3 more times

Your face is your sacred storyteller.
It holds the record of your lived experiences.

And when you allow it to express what lives inside you, it becomes a site of deep healing for you and the world around you.

With tenderness, Ayesha xx
